At Cody's Destiny, our mission is to facilitate healing and promote personal growth through the unique bond between horses and humans.
Equine-Assisted Services (EAS) is an umbrella term for activities and therapies that intentionally incorporate horses to support growth, learning, and healing while improving physical and emotional well-being. We offer equine-assisted psychotherapy, equine-assisted learning, therapeutic riding and hippo-therapy. Cody's Destiny is a PATH (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship) International member center and our team are credentialed professionals who adhere to PATH standards and follow the principals of Natural Lifemanship.
Our herd of therapy horses are ready to welcome clients to their home for experiential sessions that may include groundwork and/or mounted work.
EAS is evidence based and a rapidly growing field which supports individuals with physical, cognitive, emotional, or social challenges, as well as those simply seeking personal growth and resilience.
Equine-assisted psychotherapy is a unique and powerful form of therapy that includes horses in a therapeutic team that consists of a licensed mental health practitioner and a certified equine professional. Sessions are experiential and generally ground-based. Sessions are designed to support: nervous system regulation, self-awareness, mindfulness, problem-solving, resilience and personal growth. We provide a safe, compassionate space where individuals can explore their stories, build resilience, and develop life-long skills for well-being. Our equine therapy sessions are offered in group and private sessions.

Equine-Assisted Learning (EAL) is an experiential learning approach that partners people with horses to promote personal growth, life skills development, and social-emotional learning.
In EAL, participants engage in structured activities with horses—such as leading, grooming, groundwork, problem-solving tasks, and sometimes mounted work. Interaction with horses helps participants to improve: communication skills, self-confidence, self-awareness, leadership skills, teamwork, emotional regulation, problem-solving skills, responsibility, and empathy.
Horses are highly sensitive to body language, energy, and intention which enables them to provide immediate, honest feedback. This creates powerful opportunities for insight and growth in a safe and supportive environment. EAL is educational and developmental rather than clinical, though it can be deeply therapeutic.
EAL is facilitated by a team of credentialed professionals which includes a facilitator, a certified equine professional and a horse. The wisdom and presence of the horse helps people learn about themselves and how they relate to the world around them.
Therapeutic or Adaptive Riding is riding lessons tailored for individuals with unique abilities. The goal in therapeutic riding is to teach riding and horsemanship as a skill. Lessons are designed to improve the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social well-being of the rider. Therapeutic riding (TR) lessons are taught by a certified therapeutic riding instructor who may be assisted by trained volunteers. Physical benefits of TR include improvements in balance, coordination, posture, strength, and flexibility. Cognitive and emotional benefits include improved focus, problem-solving, confidence, emotional regulation, and self-esteem. Social Benefits arise from inclusion in group lessons, fostering communication, teamwork, and cooperation. Equipment, and lesson plans are adapted to meet each participant’s unique abilities, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.

Hippo-therapy is a specialized form of therapy that uses the movement of a horse as a treatment tool. Sessions are facilitated by a team that includes a licensed health professional such as a physical therapist, occupational therapist, or speech-language pathologist and a certified therapeutic riding instructor. Unlike therapeutic riding, which teaches riding skills for recreation and personal growth, hippo-therapy is clinically focused and goal-driven. Hippo-therapy sessions are designed and guided to address specific functional goals. The horse’s gait provides multidimensional, dynamic, rhythmic motion that helps improve posture, balance, coordination, strength, and flexibility.
Sessions may address physical, sensory, neurological, or speech-language challenges. Goals are individualized and measurable.
